ALPHA/Gifted Academy

ALPHA Academy

The Advancement of Learning & Performance for Higher Achievement (ALPHA) Academy is a K-12 initiative for Grady County Schools that allows our gifted/accelerated students that exhibit high achievement in academics to be engaged in advanced content instruction and taught by gifted-endorsed/advanced placement teachers.  Students will experience a variety of gifted models of instruction that comply with the Georgia Department of Education standards including a collaborative model, resource model, advanced content model, cluster model, and/or Advanced Placement (AP) model.

The goal of educational services for gifted students in Grady County is to provide for the extension of learning opportunities, the development of inpidual potential, the enhancement of the student’s self-concept and the advancement toward becoming an independent learner through differentiated curricula beyond the opportunities and experiences of the regular classroom.

It is the belief of the Grady County School District that all students have the right to develop their talents and abilities to the fullest.  Embodied in this belief is the commitment to gifted and talented students who possess learning characteristics and needs that differ from those of their chronological peers.  The mission of gifted education is to maximize the potential of gifted by providing programs and services that accommodate these differences, including curriculum responsive to inpidual learning rates, styles, and complexity.  Identification and eligibility procedures are established through guidance from the Georgia Department of Education.
